The YES! Organic Market at Georgia and Taylor St, NW in Petworth started selling growlers over the weekend. Anyone know if the other YES! stores are selling growlers? It’s a nice selection:

Though one reader though is concerned with the prices. He writes:

“Has anyone been questioning the proposed outrageous cost of growler sales at Yes! on Taylor and GA ave. 64 oz (8 ounces less than a six pack) is sometimes 70-100% more expensive. Seems ridiculous. Or am I missing something?”

The folks at Three Little Pigs tell me the grant will allow them to offer more classes, more fresh cuts of meat, and more variety of local dairy. Awesome. For folks not familiar with Three Little Pigs, you’re missing out – just check out today’s lunch options:

1. TLP prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato, basil, & olive oil on foccacia

2. BBQ pulled pork & creamy coleslaw on a jalapeno cheddar bun

3. Smoked pork loin, pickles, mayo, onion mustard, & gruyere panini

From Council Member Muriel Bowser:

MPD reports that they are investigating a double shooting involving two family members (approx 6 AM). Early reports indicate that one shot the other and then himself. Awaiting confirmation of the condition of each. At this time, I have no further information. I will update you soonest.

Update from MPD at 8:40am:

Around 6am, units received a call for a shooting in the 500 blk of Quincy St NW. Two adult victims were located suffering from apparent gunshot wounds at a residence. One male was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The second male is deceased.

Detectives from the Homicide Branch are on the scene investigating. The 500 blk of Quincy is temporarily closed to vehicular traffic.

A great corner garden from Petworth. Plus I’ve been seeing these flowers blooming all over town (lots in blue and white too):

The curbside tire planter up top is from Petworth.

Below is a beautiful garden from Mt. Pleasant.

Anyone know what type of flower this is?

I’ve been getting this question pretty regularly (most recently on twitter @PoPville) ever since we learned about it back in Oct. 2012:

“Tavern serving bar food with a seating capacity of 70. Occupancy load of 70. Requesting a summer garden with a seating capacity of 20 and entertainment endorsement featuring live music.”

Last month New Columbia Heights reported an ANC Rep heard the owners were shooting for a July opening date. Based on the photo above taken last weekend and word from a reader who peeked in the window, well, I’d guess the likelihood of them opening in July is, uh, let’s say not very likely. Unless they meant July 2014. Anyway, I’m just glad it’s apparently still happening. Though I’ll feel a little more confident when renovations actually start. Stay tuned.
