“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred in the 4100 block of 8th Street, Northwest, on Sunday, December 20, 2015.
At approximately 5:20 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to a call for a man down. Upon arrival, they located a male victim, unconscious, and suffering from stab wounds. D.C. Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where all lifesaving efforts failed.
The decedent has been identified as 17-year-old Jose Ochoa of Northwest, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

Waiting on…permits!! Thanks to all who emailed about Twisted Horn looking open. But it’ll be worth the wait. The shot below is obviously a daytime shot, but I imagine when it’s all dark this is gonna be a great spot to sip a Ghostwood Development.

Hey there – is there any update on when Little Coco’s construction is going to start? Still no construction movement seen, although construction is moving along for the Golden Paradise restaurant next door. The neighborhood is starting to get anxious about what’s taking so long! Any info you have is appreciated.”
From the owners – there was a bit of a delay due to circumstances beyond there control but there is some good news:
“Our new architects are HapstakDemetriou whose recent work includes Rose’s Luxury, Fiola Mare, Convivial, a couple Mussel Bars and many others. We couldn’t be more excited about the project.”
Updates when “permits are in hand”.
Despite the delay, the good news is it’s still coming and it’s gonna look awesome!!
Ed. Note: There was also a delay in Slash Run opening and that turned out great so I have a lot of confidence that this will be worth the wait. Besides Slash Run, Little Coco’s is from the same owners as El Chucho and Bar Charley, etc.

The subject was subsequently captured by a nearby surveillance camera.

There’s a lot of excitement about Ruta Del Vino coming to the former Riyad Market space on Upshur Street. They’ve now posted their placard which says:
“New restaurant and wine bar serving Latin American cuisine, wine, cocktails, and beer. Entertainment Endorsement, flamenco guitar. Sidewalk Café seating 20 patrons. Total Occupancy Load of 141. Seating for 76 inside the premises.”

“Since opening Slash Run we have done two events with the Soldier’s Home – one at the Soldier’s Home for a happy hour and one at Slash as a fundraiser for them.
We loved doing both and it got us to thinking about how much more we should get involved and supportive of the community as a whole.
So, in 2016 we’re starting to have fundraiser nights at Slash Run for any non-profit, arts or theater organizations, food banks, etc. If people are interested in participating they can email me at [email protected].

We promote/they promote
15% of Sales from that night go to the organization (they get the benefit of whatever sales we would have naturally done)
