“Dear PoPville,

On Tuesday morning, January 9, I found a wallet outside the entrance to the Soldiers’ Home National Cemetery in Petworth. It contained some sensitive documents but no money. It appears to potentially belong to an individual with the initials J.A.R.C., or maybe R.A.R.C. I turned it in to MPD’s 4th District Substation on Park Road NW. Hopefully the owner will be able to claim their wallet.”

Thanks to all who sent word about this story from the Washington Post:

“When Call Your Mother opens next year in the former Alfie’s space in Park View, the deli will specialize in bagels. Not Montreal bagels. Not New York bagels. But something of a hybrid developed by the team behind Timber Pizza, the Petworth shop that was recently named Pizzeria of the Year by Bon Appétit.”

Shooting 12.26.17

“Dear PoPville,

Since i didn’t see this reported on the MPD alerts yesterday (or popville), thought i’d send it in.

I witnessed this shooting December 26th (yes, called it in); the footage is from our porch camera on New Hampshire near Spring Rd NW. Spoke at length with the officers, all 3 individuals were picked up a short time later (shooter and 2 fleeing). No one was wounded, and somehow no cars were hit either. This may have been part of a feuding gang battle last night in Park View / Columbia Heights / Petworth (specifically the shooting on Warder).”
