Woke up to a lot of queries about a huge police response on Georgia Ave starting just after 2am:

“did anyone just hear/see the 2 helicopters and dozens of police cars that just sped down Georgia Ave?”

Ed. Note: Last night readers also reported shots fired at 14th and Fairmont around 10:45pm.

Update from MPD: “The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 1300 block of Fairmont Street NW. An adult male has sustained gunshot wounds to the upper body and was transported to an area hospital by private vehicle.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.

Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

A reader reported around 2:20pm Sunday: “Just heard 5 shots in Eckington near summit place NE and Rhode island. Wasn’t outside to pinpoint but in case you get others messaging – it was definitely 5 quick shots. Sounds like it came from the street and not great aim hitting some parked cars.”

Multiple readers reported around 6:15pm Sunday: “multiple shots fired in the 2900 block of Georgia Ave NW, with some hitting the windows of Bravo Bar. Georgia Ave NW closed between Harvard and Hobart at the 2900 block.” (more…)

“On March 13, 2020 at approximately 830 pm in the 600 block of Park Rd, NW there was a report of two black males who exited a black SUV and fired multiple shots towards the 600 block of Morton St, NW causing minor property damage, however one round struck an adult male who suffered from non-life threatening injuries and was treated at an area hospital for his injuries.

This case is under investigation by the Fourth District Detectives Office. Any information please contact 202-727-9099.”

The family of the homicide victim last week (shooting on Quebec Street NW of Malik Brown) has a GoFundMe for expenses.

Malik’s mom is a teacher at my son’s daycare and she was so proud of him. You can see in the GoFundMe description that he recently graduated from Marshall University with a degree in computer science. He wasn’t doing anything wrong, he was just walking to work.”
