Owner Kent “Kenny” Gilmore has suffered several strokes and can no longer continue maintaining the deli. Additionally, COVID significantly impacted sales at the deli since his beloved Howard University and Benjamin Banneker High School Faculty and Students were not physically present to create foot traffic into the deli. From MPD 7:46pm: “Alert: Shooting Investigation in the1000 Block of Otis Place NW. No lookout at this time”

From MPD: “On January 16, 2021, at approximately 7:22 pm, members of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 3500 block of 14th Street NW for a shooting. Once on the scene a victim was located with a one gunshot wound. The Victim was treated at a local hospital and the Fourth District Detective’s office is investigating the incident.

“Live right behind bp station, heard three shots, yelling/screaming, speeding cars, and cops showed up within 2-3 min. Police look like they are looking for casings and the area is yellow taped”
