From MPD 7:46pm: “Alert: Shooting Investigation in the1000 Block of Otis Place NW. No lookout at this time”

From MPD: “On January 16, 2021, at approximately 7:22 pm, members of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 3500 block of 14th Street NW for a shooting. Once on the scene a victim was located with a one gunshot wound. The Victim was treated at a local hospital and the Fourth District Detective’s office is investigating the incident.

“Live right behind bp station, heard three shots, yelling/screaming, speeding cars, and cops showed up within 2-3 min. Police look like they are looking for casings and the area is yellow taped”

3300 block of Georgia Avenue, NW

“Agents from the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Internal Affairs Bureau are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred on Saturday, January 2, 2021, in the 3300 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest.

Preliminarily, at approximately 7:56 am, uniformed patrol officers of the Fourth District responded to the listed location to investigate a person with a gun. An officer observed the suspect in the 3300 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. The suspect brandished a firearm. The officer subsequently discharged their service weapon and shot the suspect. “As restaurants close again this week and restaurant workers are faced with being furloughed, Hook Hall Helps, the hospitality industry workers relief program started in March for the first pandemic shutdown, is being revived. Free meals and supply kits will be distributed every Monday from 3 until 5 pm at Hook Hall, 3400 Georgia Avenue NW. This week there will also be a Christmas Eve distribution from 3 until 5. Hospitality industry recipients will receive a variety of family meals to last three to four days. (more…)


A reader reports last night:

“I was robbed and assaulted at knifepoint in the Petworth/Georgia Ave metro station around 6:30pm [Thursday.] Two guys were waiting outside the train when I got off, one followed me to the escalator and put a knife to my side and asked for my phone. I said no, we fought, the other guy joined when it wasn’t a quick transaction. The first guy tried to stab me in the stomach but he had a utility swiss army knife and it wasn’t sharp. Eventually they got the phone after a few punches to the head, another guy who saw it happening got the knife and gave it to the station manager who called transit police. (more…)
