“Agents from the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Internal Affairs Bureau are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred on Saturday, January 2, 2021, in the 3300 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest.

Preliminarily, at approximately 7:56 am, uniformed patrol officers of the Fourth District responded to the listed location to investigate a person with a gun. An officer observed the suspect in the 3300 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. The suspect brandished a firearm. The officer subsequently discharged their service weapon and shot the suspect. “As restaurants close again this week and restaurant workers are faced with being furloughed, Hook Hall Helps, the hospitality industry workers relief program started in March for the first pandemic shutdown, is being revived. Free meals and supply kits will be distributed every Monday from 3 until 5 pm at Hook Hall, 3400 Georgia Avenue NW. This week there will also be a Christmas Eve distribution from 3 until 5. A reader reports last night:

“I was robbed and assaulted at knifepoint in the Petworth/Georgia Ave metro station around 6:30pm [Thursday.] Two guys were waiting outside the train when I got off, one followed me to the escalator and put a knife to my side and asked for my phone. I said no, we fought, the other guy joined when it wasn’t a quick transaction. The first guy tried to stab me in the stomach but he had a utility swiss army knife and it wasn’t sharp. Eventually they got the phone after a few punches to the head, another guy who saw it happening got the knife and gave it to the station manager who called transit police. (more…)

MPD reported around 11pm:

Stabbing Investigation in the 1400 block of T Street NW. Lookout for H/M, wearing white shirt and black jeans.”

Update from MPD: “Last night the Third District investigated a Domestic Violence related stabbing that took place in the 1400 block of T Street NW. The victim sustained non life threatening injuries.

The case was closed with the arrest of an adult male.”

“Early this morning, members of the Third District responded to the 1300 block of 12th St NW for the report of a stabbing. An adult female was transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The Investigation is ongoing but we believe the incident is the result of robbery attempt.

“This morning at approximately 0115 hours, an individual was walking towards their vehicle in the 1800 block of Burke Street SE when they were approached by an unknown suspect armed with a handgun. The suspect demanded the victim give up their vehicle, and when the victim refused the suspect fired one shot from the handgun, striking the victim in the arm. (more…)



700 block of Morton St, NW

A reader reports: “Morton Street is still blocked off from the shooting last night around 8pm. MPD I spoke to said that no one heard the shots (we were 300 feet away, outside and didn’t either).”

MPD reported around 9pm: “Alert: Shooting Investigation in the 700 block of Morton Street NW. No Lookout”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Thursday, December 3, 2020, in the 700 block of Morton Street, Northwest.
