“The NoMa BID and NPR have partnered with D.C. Walls to transform a former Wendy’s restaurant into a 360-degree piece of art. The building, located at D.C.’s infamous intersection, known locally as “Dave Thomas Circle,” has been selected as a painting site for this year’s edition of the D.C. Walls Festival. D.C. Walls Founder, Director, and curator Kelly Towles targeted the iconic space as an opportunity for this year’s festival, working in partnership with the NoMa BID. This mural will remain on view until the building is razed, which is expected in the first quarter of 2023 as part of the city’s plans for improving the intersection. (more…)

I counted 11(!) booted cars this morning between N Capitol and Tuckerman and N Capitol and Van Buren Streets yesterday morning. And at lunchtime, there are 3 tow trucks in the area towing booted cars away. I’ve lived in this neighborhood for five years and have never seen parking enforcement near our house. (more…)
“Dear PoPville,
I wanted to send this as a sort of community warning to folks. Yesterday, 8/31, I was assaulted while walking in Mount Pleasant just before 6pm. I was headed East on Irving St between Mt. Pleasant and 16th St and a man going the other direction was very intentionally walking down the middle of the sidewalk. When I tried to get out of his way and pass around him, he sped up and very deliberately went toward me- I tried even more to get out of his way by angling my body as close to the other direction as possible. Before I could process what was happening, he bodyslammed me into the fence so hard I lost my footing and nearly fell over. I was shoved both into the fence and into the older woman walking just behind me. (more…)
