Uh Oh, Sounds Like El Camino Closed, again, in Bloomingdale. Reopening Again in a few weeks?

Update from BloomingdaleResident:

“Someone told me over the phone yesterday that they’re under new management and reopening in 1-2 weeks with the same staff and menu.”

Note: El Camino’s original owners opened up here back in October 2014.  El Camino closed back in September 2018. The new owners reopened El Camino here back in 2019.

Thanks to Bloomingdale resident, Ryan, for sharing the latest sad news about El Camino closing:

“Our family is truly heartbroken. My daughters are crushed. Marvin and the team always made us feel like family, we’re gonna miss them so very much. 😪. I hope whoever comes in after just does exactly what they were doing!”

Malabar “modern Indian fare” opened in the Rosedale space in Van Ness/Forest Hills

Back in December we learned Malabar was coming to the relatively new Rosedale space on Connecticut Ave across the street from Bread Furst. They’ve now opened.

To bridge cultures through the universal language of cuisine using traditional techniques, quality ingredients, and uncharted fusions.

James Beard award winning chef, Vikram Sunderam, and his Rasika chefs have designed the menu, with a focus on freshly ground spices and seasonal ingredients at its core, and which can be paired with curated wines, craft cocktails, and beers.” (more…)

Harris Teeter finally terminates agreement for Hill East location. What would you like to see take over the space?

Thanks to Mike for passing on from Harris Teeter’s Customer relations:

“I wanted to let you know that we now have a fully executed termination agreement for this location.”

Harris Teeter at Jenkins Row closed in 2021. The 45,000 sq ft store opened in 2008.

Stay tuned for updates when we learn what becomes of the space at 1350 Potomac Ave SE.

Ed. Note: Acqua al 2 closed here back in 2020. Harvest Tide had taken over the space but closed back in March 2024.

I wanted to check in if you’ve heard any updates on the return of Acqua al 2? I haven’t heard much since you shared that it would be reopening, almost exactly a year ago!, and I’m hoping that all the other restaurant closures haven’t deterred them or changed anything. Thank you!”
