“Dear PoPville,

My last two visits to the West End branch library have involved secret service and barricades. Apparently, someone who warrants secret service protection has moved into the condos above the library and it is altering use of the library. You no longer can enter the library. You are met on the sidewalk by secret service and staff and assisted there.

Do you know what is going on? Who moved in? Is this permanent or temporary?”


“Dear PoPville,

Tonight was the second time in the last 2-3 weeks that I’ve noticed a napkin tied around around my car’s passenger side door handle while it was street parked in West End on 26th St NW. The first time I noticed it I removed it immediately, but then I noticed a new one again tonight, tied to the same door handle. (more…)

A crop of new signs popped up on our block today, then we noticed a large pile by the trash on a side street. Are campaign representatives allowed to move other campaign’s signs?”

On Thursday we shared from Attorney General Racine’s office:

Is it legal to destroy election signs in the lead up to the election?

No. It is illegal under District law to intentionally remove, deface, damage, or destroy a lawfully placed billboard, poster, sign or other material relating to a candidate or referendum in the 30 days before the election or up to four days after the election. (more…)


Update: “Alright DC, we can finally say it: DOORS OPEN WEDNESDAY, 8/26 at 7am!! and we cannot wait to meet you!”

Back in October 2019 we learned that Boston’s Tatte Bakery & Cafe would be coming to the former Meiwah restaurant, which closed after 20 years in May 2019. They’ll be opening the new space this coming Monday the 24th Wednesday the 26th. (more…)
