hahaha thanks to Christopher for sending:

“Whole Foods is out here trying to invent new neighborhoods. “South Capitol Hill” is not a thing. If you’re south of I-695, you’re in Navy Yard. Them’s the rules.”

If I may – 1. I agree.
2. Whole Foods could call this area South East Shaw and people would still be excited about this opening.
3. I’d be curious to hear the perspective of the “Capitol Riverfront” on this one…

From sweet, sweet scuttlebutt in December 2017 to a sweet, sweet soft opening tomorrow!!
It’s no secret that I love Wiseguy Pizza – arguably the best slice of pizza in the District of Columbia. So, they could open in a cardboard box and I’d be excited about it. Well, I’m hyperventilating as I type this because the transformed Il Parco space is freaking beautiful. You can see for yourself in a sec but first let me quickly add the important stuff – soft opening tomorrow at noon [Tuesday] until the pizza runs out [stay tuned for regular hours], Counter Culture coffee and pastries will be kick off in it’s beautiful space starting in about a month. There will be beer. And when the weather warms up again there will be house made gelato. Congrats to Navy Yard, you are very, very lucky peeps.

Feast on the new space:

“Dear PoPville,

Just a quick heads up to my Navy Yard peeps. A neighbor watched construction workers posting these signs right around 10am. She was questioning the fact that cars were already parked there. You can see it was printed yesterday and they literally posted them after the restricted time began. I’m fortunate enough to have garage parking, but just wanted to give a warning to anyone parked on I (eye) street, SE between half and 1st Street.”

“Dear PoPville,

I received the attached letter in the mail this week about the alley improvement project hitting my alley this week.

I live 2 blocks from both Nats Park and Audi Field and both of those stadiums have events during the time covered. When Bowser announced that the State of Emergency yesterday I remembered the letter said “weather dependent” and I called DDOT to confirm no work would be done due to that state of emergency.

The woman I encountered was rude and unhelpful. I won’t post her name here, but she basically said “The letter said weather permitting, so if you had read it you would know the answer and wouldn’t have to call.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Does DC have any plans for a bike path connecting the Wharf to Buzzard Point and the Yards Park via Fort Lesley McNair? I know that the NPS plan for Buzzard Point includes a bike path that extends to where the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail currently ends, but how about all the way around that point? (more…)
