DC Water Lifts Boil Advisory for Many Affected But “Continues For Roughly 4,200 Customers in Northeast”

From the Mayor’s Office:

“Following two consecutive days of clear samples for most of the Advisory area, DC Water is lifting the Boil Water Advisory for a portion of the impacted area. DC Water has determined boundaries for a smaller impacted area which will remain under a Boil Water Advisory until two consecutive days of clear samples are obtained. Customers can view the interactive map or call the 24-Hour Command Center at (202) 612-3400 to verify if their residence falls within the area still affected. Customers located in the impacted area should continue boiling water for drinking and cooking until further notice.

Customers who are not located in this updated Advisory area can use tap water after running cold-water taps for 10 minutes before returning to normal water usage. Running the cold-water tap will replace water sitting in pipes during the advisory with fresh water from the water main.

The impact area which remains under an Advisory includes portions of neighborhoods in Queens Chapel, Michigan Park, North Michigan Park, Chillum Station and Terra Cotta.

It is anticipated sample results for the remaining impact area will be analyzed by Sunday morning, August 8.

Customers still affected by the boil water advisory should continue to follow these precautions: (more…)

Shots Fired Last Night in Brightwood and Michigan Park

“On May 10, 2021, at approximately 8:05 PM Officers responded to the 900 block Rittenhouse Street NW for sounds of Gunshots. Once on the scene officers located multiple shell casing. No report of any injuries, however 3 vehicles were damaged. The incident is being investigated by the Fourth District Detective’s Office.

Not a Good Day/Night

10th and Otis Place, NW 7:37pm Saturday

From MPD 7:46pm: “Alert: Shooting Investigation in the1000 Block of Otis Place NW. No lookout at this time”

From MPD: “On January 16, 2021, at approximately 7:22 pm, members of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 3500 block of 14th Street NW for a shooting. Once on the scene a victim was located with a one gunshot wound. The Victim was treated at a local hospital and the Fourth District Detective’s office is investigating the incident.

Shots Fired around 10:30pm in Michigan Park

“On October 13, 2020 at approximately 10:31 PM MPD officers responded to the 900 block of Upshur Street NE in reference to a call for sounds of gunshots. The members located three shell casings in the block. No damage or injuries were reported. Any information please contact 202-727-9099″

Shootings in Takoma Park and Michigan Park Thursday Night

“The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the 100 block of Walnut Street, NW.

At approximate 10:45 pm, the Tacoma Park Police were called to the 100 block of Walnut Avenue, in Takoma Park, Maryland, for a serious vehicle collision, involving a single vehicle and a tree. Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to an area hospital. The passenger of the vehicle remains in critical condition due to a gunshot wound and injuries sustained in the vehicle collision. The driver of the vehicle succumbed to his injuries.

An investigation revealed that prior to the vehicle collision, the vehicle and occupants were involved in a shooting located in District of Columbia, in the 100 block of Walnut St, NW, a short distance away.

“At approximately 10:30 pm last night, the Metropolitan Police responded to the 4400 block of 13th St, NE for a shooting. After canvassing the area, members of the department located an adult male with a non life threatening gunshot wound.”

Sunday was not a good day

In addition to the shooting in Park View which is now a homicide the following also occurred yesterday.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, January 26, 2020, in the Unit Block of N Street, Southwest.

At approximately 2:15 pm, members of the First District responded to the rear of the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 36 year-old Eric Delonte Barbour, of Southwest, DC. (more…)
