More new restaurants for Logan Circle/14th Street. Bari Bari will be located on the corner of 14th and R St, NW in the new PN Hoffman building (Northern Exchange.) The liquor license posted out front says:
“New European-style restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Inside seating capacity of 32, total Occupancy Load of 97, and Sidewalk Café with 52 seats.”

A reader writes:
On our walk yesterday, I noticed a light green Passat driving around the statue area of Logan Circle – my husband decided to call 911 and started to run towards the car when it was clear the driver was driving around the Circle. When I got closer, I noticed that the car’s front was all busted – he had driven THROUGH the fence of the statue area. When my husband ran up to the car, the driver got out, checked his trunk for some reason, said, “I’m just trying to get out of the circle” then got back in. The driver then continued on through the circle, driving out through a sidewalk, into the actual traffic circle in the middle of traffic and around through Rhode Island Ave headed northeast. The police were notified of his direction, and a neighbor filmed part of it (see above.)
It was frightening to see someone clearly on drugs or possibly having a health problem continue on in their vehicle – in retrospect, my husband should have taken the keys from the ignition when the man got out to check his trunk. Knowing how busy that circle is not just with pedestrians but with people on benches, we’re lucky all that was ruined was some grass and the fence (that seems to get busted often).

Dear PoPville,
Just heard Cafe Collage is closing today from the woman who runs the place. Sad news. Not too surprising, though; I think most of the business came from people camping out all day with their laptops. The side street location didn’t help, and I always thought that having more pastries/more light inside would have been good for them.
We last judged Cafe Collage, located at 14th and T St, NW just east of St. Ex, back in Nov. 2011. Do you think a cafe can survive in this location?
1527 14th Street, NW
Back in Dec. 2011 Great Wall Szechuan House reopened after they renovated their dining area at 1527 14th Street, NW. Now comes word that they have brown rice.

14th and T St, NW
Back in July 2011 we learned that Matchbox would be moving into the former Arena Stage building at the corner of 14th and T St, NW across from St. Ex. The scaffolding has been removed and you can really see the building returning to life:
Lots of progress on the inside too, remember the space was completely gutted:
And this always blows me away, check out what 14th and T Street looked like in 1986. The Matchbox will be going into the building on the corner that has the sign – “All Power to the Imagination”:
