“Shortly after 1pm today, we received a call for gunshots heard in the vicinity of the 1300 block of Half Street, SW. Our officers were in the area and responded to the block. We located a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the court yard area. He was ultimately pronounced dead and our Homicide Unit assumed the investigation. As of now we have a look out for a black male, thin in stature, wearing dark clothing.

We ask that anyone with information or video regarding this incident call us immediately and share that with us. Please call 202-727-9099 or text us at 50411. As always information leading to the successful prosecution of homicide cases may be eligible for rewards up to $25,000.”

NBC Washington reported: “A 15-year-old boy (Thomas Johnson) was shot and killed near Nationals Park Wednesday afternoon, hours before thousands of Nats fans were set to attend a playoffs watch party at the stadium.”

“On Wednesday October 9, 2019 at approximately 2143 hours police officers from the Fifth District responded to a call for a shooting on the 1600 block of Rosedale St NE. Once on scene the officers located two adult male who had sustained traumatic injuries and were unconscious and not responsive. This is an active investigation being conducted by detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department Violent Crimes Bureau. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact MPD at 202-727-9099.”

“Earlier today at approximately 4:40 PM there was the sound of gunshots in the area of 21st Street and D Street NE. An on scene investigation revealed that two vehicles were involved and occupant(s) of at least one of the vehicles was firing a gun as the cars traveled West on D Street NE. The crime scene stretched from 21st and D Streets NE to 15th and D Streets NE. Read More

“On Thursday August 29th at approximately 2312 hours in the 700 block 19th St NE- The victim, an adult female reported to Fifth District Officers that she was inside of her residence when there were sounds of gunshots outside on the street. V-1 reports that a stray bullet penetrated the front door of her home and was injured when the round grazed her right side . V-1 was treated on the scene by DC FEMS and transported to an area hospital for additional treatment and is in stable condition. The Fifth District Detectives Office is actively investigating this crime.”

“Dear PoPville,

There was a devastating fire on 24th St NE in Kingman Park yesterday morning that displaced 5 households on the block, three of those had their homes completely destroyed. Thankfully, no one was injured in the fire. The neighborhood is banding together to raise relief funds for those families.”
