I was walking home and saw a new sign on the long vacant Kitsuen Japanese restaurant. We have seen a few vacant properties that have been preparing to open to new merchants along H Street NE with renovations, new store front windows, and a new paint job. I don’t know if it’s just because I’m old but this one hits hard. I remember the excitement of when they first opened, which feels not that long ago… 17 years!!

About a week ago Sticky Rice shared the super sad news:

After 17 unforgettable years, Sticky Rice DC is closing its doors. 💔

This decision wasn’t easy. The pandemic, decreased foot traffic, rising food costs, labor costs, and the impact of Initiative 82 have all made it impossible for us to continue. We fought hard—but it’s time to say goodbye. (more…)

Dolcezza, the iconic gelato and coffee shop based in Washington DC, is kicking off its 2025 expansion plans with a highly anticipated new location opening April 4th on H Street NE. This marks the sixth outpost for the award-winning local company, known for its local sourcing, small batch gelato, and craft coffee program.
