Thanks to a reader for sending around 1:30pm. Hope all are safe.
UPDATE: MPD tells me that three adults were arrested and a “large” amount of marijuana was recovered. The space was allegedly being used as a distribution point for illegal sales.

Thanks to ANC rep Michael Wray for sharing:
“This could be a PoPville caption contest – but in the ongoing Call Your Mother BZA case, the applicant posted photos of how the line can be easily accommodated at their new location. As their current ANC Commissioner – folks it’s no big deal. Best of luck.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
So about a month ago we decided to go to Cafe Bonaparte in Georgetown for brunch, but it was closed with papered up windows and a sign about being closed for the week to paint.
However, that sign has been up since early September and their website has stated the same thing for as long.
Just wondering if anyone knew what the status of the restaurant is.”
I took a peak in the door over the weekend: (more…)

Back in August we learned about the likely downtown closure. Georgetown was not spared Forever 21’s bankruptcy filing either: (more…)

Ed. Note: The Berliner only opened up next door/underneath Gypsy Sally’s about a year ago. I haven’t heard if the building sale/condo conversion will affect them. Stay tuned.
Thanks to all who messaged us. I keep forgetting to post this from Gypsy Sally’s:
“As you may have heard, our landlord recently sold the building where we have resided since 2013. It will be developed into condominiums. With great sadness, Gypsy Sally’s will have its final load-out on January 5th, 2020. Until then, we plan on conducting business as usual with a full calendar of great music for you to enjoy. Stay tuned for info in the coming weeks regarding John Kadlecik’s plans for our final show. It is only fitting that John should preside over our send off, and we are honored that he will be hosting our closing festivities. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
This is maddening. Jack Evans is trying to block Call Your Mother from opening in Georgetown on 35th Street, stating that it’s “too successful” for the neighborhood.
Jacks letter to the Zoning Board, first reported by The Hoya.
You mess with my bagels? This is war.”
