From Nando’s:

“About 10 years ago, we opened our second restaurant in the U.S., in a stately and historic building off Dupont Circle. [Ed. Note: Remember when this was a hardware store?!?] Now the time has come for us to give it some love!

From September 3rd to September 12th, Nando’s Dupont location (1210 18th Street, NW) will be closed, so we can make some important repairs as part of a two-stage renovation.

The good news: (more…)

I mean it looks like a cool building but – Le Dupont? I never thought I’d pine for the days of naming by measures of temperature.

Their website says:

“luxuriously unique

le dupont, a new boutique collection of seven condominium residences in the sought-after historic neighborhood, Dupont Circle.

Be among the first to experience these richly appointed studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom residences tailored to best fit your lifestyle needs.”

Thanks to Nick for sending this eagerly anticipated update on the Philz opening in Dupont Circle:

“the to-be-opened Philz Coffee south of Dupont Circle (on 19th by Panera) is giving out free coffee this morning! They soft open on Tues and real open on Weds!

Back in October we learned that this Philz will be coming to the former Cosi that closed back in 2014. This will be a third location for Philz in D.C. after Adams Morgan and Navy Yard.

Da’amn. From Mr. Yogato:

“After ten glorious years, Mr. Yogato will be retiring in October. Although he is sad, he is looking for the next “Charlie Bucket” to continue the legacy of scrumptious frozen yogurt and irritating trivia. Mr. Yogato loves this store and, because he really wants to see it live on, he will sell it to a worthy yogurt enthusiast for $1. Email [email protected] if interested!”

“Dear PoPville,

I was crossing the intersection at 17th Street NW and S Street NW, near the S Street Dog Park with a co-worker. A car with about 4 or 5 young white men were at the stop sign, honking at people walking and giving them the middle finger.

My co-worker and I had crossed the street and as they drove through the intersection towards us. They yelled out what I believe to be, “Hey you!” Throwing a full bottle of Vitamin water at us, which, was clearly intended to hit either of us in the head but, it missed. I didn’t catch their license plate number but, it was a Maryland license plate.

So, folks beware, a car with Maryland license plate (think it was a Honda Civic) of about 4 or 5 white men are driving around the city being terrible and assaulting folks. This happened around 5:20pm.”

Shoelution opened around January/February of this year.

Comfort One did not waiver.

Side note: Looks like that consignment store that used to be between the two closed too.

This is the former Yola, GBD, and most recently Red Apron Burger Bar which closed back in September 2017.

The liquor license placard for the new, to be named, restaurant says:

“A New Class “C” Restaurant serving gourmet pizza with other light fare. Total Occupancy Load is 48, with seating for 40. Licensee is requesting an Entertainment Endorsement, to include live entertainment, dancing, and cover charge inside the premises only. A Sidewalk Café with 9 seats is also requested.”

STAY TUNED.
