“After a dramatic transformation, the space formerly known as Cafe Dupont reopens as The Pembroke, beginning its inaugural dinner service tonight, February 8, with a complete makeover and all-new food & drink menus.

The farm-and-sea-to-table restaurant (1500 New Hampshire Avenue NW) seats 127 guests inside and boasts a 78-person seasonal terrace outdoors, adjacent to the venue’s stunning wall of floor-to-ceiling windows.

Interior designer Martin Brudnizki led the redesign, updating the restaurant with plush blue velvet semicircle banquettes, coral couches, brass light fixtures and hardware, marble tabletops and much more. (more…)

“FRESHFARM needs your help! We have an important update to share about the FRESHFARM Dupont Circle Farmers Market. The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is exploring the creation of a north-south protected bike lane to connect the Dupont Circle neighborhood with Foggy Bottom and the National Mall. This week, the Dupont Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC 2B) made a motion to recommend that the protected bike lane be constructed along 20th Street NW, which would travel directly through the market. While FRESHFARM strongly supports more protected bike lanes throughout the city, we are very concerned about the impacts the proposed bike lane will have on market operations. A protected bike lane along 20th Street could reduce the footprint of the Dupont Circle Farmers Market by as much as 60% and create serious safety hazards for shoppers, farmers and producers, as well as cyclists. Oof, thanks to Doug for sending: “Panas just can’t catch a break.”

A couple weeks ago we reported that Panas Gourmet Empandadas were shut down by the Department of Health. Panas says due to their business license being expired. Panas opened up at 2029 P Street, NW back in June 2010. Updates when they reopen.

I was walking down Connecticut this morning when I heard a large explosion sound coming from the intersection at Columbia Rd. I turned to see the driver of a 43 bus getting off the bus to examine the bus. Thankfully, another 43 pulled up moments later, and all of the passengers from the first bus offloaded and boarded the much coveted 43.”

“Dear PoPville,

I know you posted the sign on the right before, but I don’t believe the comments requested the reasons for the objections to this building. The only place I see these signs are at the houses directly surrounding the Masonic Temple lot. Are there any real objections to this besides just not wanting an open lot built on (classic NIMBYism)?
