Thanks to Craig for sending. And it looks like they’ll have t-shirts for anyone who works nearby! Ed. Note: If you do work nearby, please snag me a medium and I’ll swap you a PoPville t-shirt for it!

Back in June we learned the 19th Street store would be the first Wawa to open in D.C. in “December 2017”. You can see some renderings here. Then they’ll be everywhere.

I am moderately excited about Union Trust‘s opening this fall.
The liquor license placard says:
“New tavern, specializing in higher end spirits, draft beer, and possibly light pre-prepared snacks. Recorded music. Total Occupancy Load is 79.”
OK I lied, I’m out of my mind excited about their opening this fall.
STAY TUNED.

This the former home of Sophie’s Cuban Cuisine which closed back in March of last year. Before Sophie’s it was the longtime home of Singapore Bistro. Donburi’s first location is at 2438 18th Street, NW in Adams Morgan. You can see Donburi’s menu here.

Donburi is calling this a soft opening with hours 11am to 10pm. (more…)

Thanks to Kate for sending:
“this new sustainable furniture store on 15 & L has their doors wide open with AC on everyday. So wasteful & not eco friendly.
Emailed the business & got no response. Regardless, it should be a city wide policy that businesses are not allowed to do this!”

Jonathan reports:
“Congrats to Chef Brian’s Comfort Kitchen soft opening. Only letting ten people in at a time yesterday. Food was tasty and portions are massive. Staff was incredibly friendly and appreciative – they are working out the kinks and I think it will be a great lunch spot addition to the neighborhood when it opens.”

Jason reports:
“It looks like Wawa-related construction (Near 19th and L) has started with Pepco workers doing utility work in front of the future store location. Permit notices are on the window, too. Looks like a potential mid to late fall opening?”
