“Chef Alfredo Solis has transformed his critically acclaimed restaurant, Anafre, into a pizzeria serving up Mexican-inspired pizzas.

Like many restaurants in DC right now, Anafre must adapt to stay afloat. The Mexican street food at Solis’ other restaurants, Mezcalero and El Sol, has proven to be a comfort to residents in times of uncertainty, but the seafood-heavy menu at Anafre doesn’t work as well for pandemic times. “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, in the 1000 block of 13th Street, Southeast.

At approximately 9:27 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located a male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life and the victim was pronounced dead. The victim remained on the scene until being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Members located an additional adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The surviving victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. (more…)

DC Fire and EMS reported: “Update Working Fire 3500 block 16th St NW. Fire 2nd floor minor extension above in 3 story middle row apartment building that appears to be under renovation. #DCsBravest quickly extinguished fire and prevented spread to adjacent buildings. No injuries. Investigators on scene.”
