Thanks to Jonnel for sending from CC Liquor Store in Columbia Heights “The place has been closed for about a month now. Guy out front said renovations. Cool to know in its former glory it was a pharmacy.”

If you have a photo of a neat find from your house, place of work or neighborhood please send an email to [email protected] thanks. Please let me know where/what neighborhood you found it in too. Thanks.

The evolution of 715 Euclid (near Banneker and Howard) continues with Chef Skip. Sounds very promising:

“Chef Skip started with the idea of a food truck that has now expanded into several locations in the 757 (Virginia Beach & Portsmouth). Chef Skip specializes in fried seafood and is known for the unique touch of an edible flower and a side of Chef Skip’s house sauce. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We were just at the Columbia Heights dog park (Sunday) and, soon after we arrived, a larger pounced on our terrier, Peanut, and they got into a little scuffle (fortunately he’s okay, just a little nick on his nose!). Talk about terrifying, though, and, once we managed to get the two dogs apart, we just kind of stood there stupefied. (more…)

A reader reported around 3:30pm: “Lots of gunshots at the corner of 14th and Ogden (approximately). I was 2 blocks away and heard them. Looks like someone got hit.”

Update from MPD:

“Dear PoPville,

I was parking and clipped a biker in Columbia Heights. He swerved but kept going and i tried to follow him on foot (I was a little flustered and apparently didn’t remember that I had a car and could follow him- which admittedly prob also would have been sketchy). I want to see if his bike is damaged or if there is anything I can do. I bike a lot so I am mortified i was that person.”

If this was you and would like to speak to OP please email me at [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch.

On Friday January 31st, 2020 we shared the scuttlebutt that shook (some of) our worlds. And so concludes the magnificent roller coaster ride of when will Taco Bell Cantina open in Columbia Heights. We got our first report at 10:58am from C., “columbia heights taco bell is open, my roommate was just inside the actual restaurant.” Thanks to Tenzin and everyone else for sending the good word. Tenzin notes: “alcoholic drinks are dine-in only!”

Phil with the magic: “It’s true, taco bell lives!” (more…)

Photo by Mathew “saw this while walking the dog near Irving street. Did it happen?”

Update:

although:

Ian writes: “I heard Taco Bell Cantina was opening at 11 a.m. today.

I went at 10:30 a.m. to try to nab their inaugural Crunchwrap Supreme, but an employee told me they didn’t get everything they needed on their truck last night, so, “if not today, tomorrow.

STAY TUNED.
