3463 14th Street, NW

SAF reports:

“Headed out today with a friend to have lunch at the 14th Street location of TDF. We ran into Luis on the street as we were walking up, wondering why the place looked closed. He’s closed this location, leaving only Kennedy Street. Their lease was up, and the rent was going up too much for him to afford.

He is planning to stay on Kennedy Street though – made the comment that he’s glad he got in early, as the prices are really rising up there too!”

“Dear PoPville,

An SUV flipped on 13th St between Park and Monroe (25mph speed limit) last night around 9pm. I came home after both drivers had been taken by ambulance, but witnesses said both were conscious and walking. It appears the SUV tried to go around a white sedan, clipped it, and flipped over.

It would be great if MPD could do more to prevent reckless driving, so 5 of their officers don’t have to stand around on a blocked off street for 2 hours. Oh, and for our safety too. (Yes I realize they can’t prevent every incident.)”

via Metro Transit Police

From WMATA:

“Metro Transit Police today arrested Brandon Lynn Williams, 19, of Forestville, Md., on an initial charge of misdemeanor sexual abuse that occurred last week at the Columbia Heights Metrorail Station.

Last Thursday afternoon, the victim, an adult female, contacted Transit Police via Metro’s online harassment reporting system. The victim reported that she was exiting Columbia Heights Station Wednesday evening using the ascending escalator at approximately 7:50 p.m. when she felt a hand up her skirt. The victim immediately left the area, while the suspect returned into the station.

Detectives immediately contacted the victim to gather additional information and offer support. MTPD also deployed casual-clothes officers at Columbia Heights and other stations in an attempt to locate the suspect and other potential victims.

Using information provided by the victim, investigators were able to find the incident on video and obtain images of the suspect. The review of video footage revealed that the suspect placed a cell phone up the victim’s skirt. (more…)
