Reader Reports Shots Fired in Columbia Heights around 11:30pm Sunday Night

A reader reports:

“Gunshots in Columbia Heights and now the street/alley is swarming with cops… Anyone else hear them Girard NW between 13th and 14th?

Just two quick shots around 11:30pm, and then the street/nearby alley/lot next to us was swarming with cops and flashlights within minutes.”

“I have seen this restaurant being closed while undergoing renovation… I was walking by and all of a sudden: boom! Soft opening at 5:00 pm today. “Tequila y Mezcal” 14th street. Columbia Heights”

The super popular Taqueria Habanero is located just up the block at 3710 14th Street, NW. Anyone take an early taste?

“During the investigation, it was determined the offense occurred outside of the fare gates on the mezzanine level, within the Columbia Heights Metro Station”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch and the Metro Transit Police Department announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault With Intent to Kill (Knife) offense that occurred on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, in the 3000 block of 14th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 1:10 pm, members of the Third District were flagged down in the 3100 block of 14th Street Northwest for a stabbing victim. Officers located an adult male, suffering from a stab wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. (more…)

This is the former Jenkins BBQ space (forever Ruby Tuesday in my heart) that closed back in early January.

Thanks to all who messaged about the big news from Washingtonian last week:

“Iron Age is known for its affordable all-you-can-eat menus ($20-to-$25 per person in the Washington suburbs) and industrial red-and-black decor. DC diners can expect the same, though some locations have slight menu variations. The Columbia Heights spot, located at 3365 14th St., NW, will likely fit around 35 tables.”

If You’re Hitting Meridian Pint Tonight – You Can Bring Your Own Food After 5pm for the Caps Game!!

Lots of folks are bidding their final farewells to Meridian Pint before they close after tomorrow. Long story short, I’m told they’re running out of food today. But fear not, you can bring your own food tonight if you are planning on stopping by after 5pm for the Caps game.
