Thanks to all who messaged over the weekend. Eatbar announced Friday night:

“It is with great sadness that we share this news: EatBar’s last day of service will be Friday, March 15th. EatBar holds a special place in our hearts (so nice we did it twice!) as it does for so many of you. We hope you will visit us over the next week to say goodbye It has been a pleasure to serve in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Fear not, we have more in store for Red Apron Butcher & Capitol Hill. You’ll be seeing our friendly faces at our other NRG spots in the interim so pls say hi!” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’ve been trying to get someone in the government to do something about this poor flag for a long time. Maybe you know someone who could help put this flag out of its misery, it’s in worse shape than the Star-Spangled Banner was on the night Francis Scott Key wrote his poem. It is flying in front of the Stuart Hobson middle school on East Street, between 4th and 5th NE.”

Ed. Note: Will also pass on to DCPS for action.

“At about 7:45 PM this evening there was a Robbery in the 700 block of Kentucky Ave. SE. The Victim was walking in the block when he was approached from behind and ‘bearhugged’ by the Suspect who demanded his property. The Victim handed over certain items of property and the Suspect fled. There was no injury to the Victim.

The lookout for the Suspect is black male, about 6′ in height, athletic build, wearing a dark jacket with a hood and a black mask covering his lower face.

The First District’s detectives office is actively investigating this matter. Anyone with any pertinent information is asked to call the Tip-Line at 202-727-9099.”

A resident wrote on the Hill East Listserv:

“Anyone know what happened on the 700-800 block of Kentucky Ave SE last night around 9 pm?

There were between 4 and 7 cruisers parked for over an hour, plain clothes detectives showed up, and they were searching down the street and even in some people’s yards.”

Another resident responded: “Uber was carjacked.”

MPD confirmed the carjacking: “Armed carjacking occured…there were no injuries.”
