Eat Brgz opening near Eastern Market in July

7th Street and C Street, SE

From a press release:

“EastBanc, Inc., developer of the vibrant mixed-use community 700 Penn, along with partners Stanton Development and Jamestown, today announced that customizable burger concept Eat Brgz will launch its first-to-market, fast-casual restaurant space in 700 Penn. The eatery will occupy approximately 1,600 square feet on the C Street SE Plaza and is slated to open this July.

The new concept – the first of its kind – reimagines the classic American hamburger. Eat Brgz combines thoughtfully-sourced ingredients, widespread flavors and unlimited creativity to introduce a burger experience where ingredients are mixed into the patty and cooked together; creating a carefully crafted culinary experience that is both entirely new and familiar. Featured items include a Greek style burger which is filled with feta cheese, kalamata olives, cucumber, sundried tomatoes, and a housemade Greek seasoning blend.

All burgers are made-to-order and served with a selection of fresh dipping sauces to pair with each unique burger including tzatziki, queso, mojo and many more. Ingredients will be sourced from many local purveyors including daily fresh baked bread from Lyon Bakery and dry-aged 100% black angus beef from Roseda Farms.

“The Burger has been largely the same since the early 1900’s and is a staple of American cuisine. With the variety of bold flavors found in our local and diverse communities, we believe our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., particularly the Capital Hill community, is the perfect place to introduce a burger and a brand that represents today’s America,” stated Brandon Gaynor, founder of Eat Brgz. “We are excited to create a cost-effective, yet high-quality neighborhood burger spot where the community can engage in a fresh and family-friendly culinary experience.”

Diners curate the entire burger-building experience, from picking the protein across a choice of beef, chicken or veggie, to their own unique ingredients that are mixed inside the patty and served with accompanying housemade dipping sauces, all for under $10. In addition to three varieties of both wine and beer, health-conscious eaters can try Eat Brgz’s special protein enriched, lower calorie, all-natural milkshakes.

“Offering the customer a way to participate and watch the creation of their meal has been a proven success, and has yet to be offered to America’s favorite meal, the hamburger,” said Philippe Lanier, Principal of EastBanc. “It’s a great addition and compliment to this neighborhood that the team behind Eat Brgz has selected 700 Penn as the ideal spot to explore their passions.”

Mr. Gaynor has brought together industry veterans Chef Robert Kabakoff, former Corporate Executive Chef at Houston’s Restaurant Group and developer of countless menu’s across the country, and restaurateur Juan Martinez of Profitality, who has partnered with dozens of local and national brands including local favorite, Nando’s Peri Peri, to develop a menu and operations that offer a superior experience yet to be seen in the fast-casual burger category.

Located at 250 7th Street SE at the corner of C Street SE, Eat Brgz will offer an outdoor patio in addition to a refreshing and inviting interior designed by Jon Siani and Aria Group. It will also feature artwork by Brooklyn-based artist Phil Powers.”
