Big, if you frequent Barracks Row, news from Barred in DC:

Molly Malone’s is now called Finn McCool’s, which was the name of the bar that previously occupied the space before Molly’s opened in 2009. Pacifico Cantina is now Tio Javier.

In addition, Chesapeake Room closed for renovations (a similar fate befell Lola’s earlier this year). Even Senart’s Oyster House changed its last part of its name to Grille Room (from Chop House).”

Tim Fegan reports over the weekend:

“Looks like Lola’s on Barracks Row is closed. Did I miss that news long ago?”

In September Capitol Hill Corner reported:

“DC Restaurateur Xavier Cervera Back as Owner of Eight Capitol Hill Restaurants

One of his first steps will be to temporarily close Lola’s Barracks Bar and Grill and begin a major refurbishment of the interior.”

There’s been a tremendous amount of change all over the city but I feel like people don’t remember what Barracks Row used to look like. Here’s that same space, home to The Chesapeake Room, below:

“Dear PoPville,

A group of residents who live along Maryland Ave NE are gathering signatures for a Thank You letter to Mayor Muriel Bowser for her efforts to move forward a plan that will add bike lanes to the street all the way from near the Capitol to H Street / Starburst intersection. The Maryland Ave Safety Project will also narrow the road from four lanes to two lanes, add left turn lanes, and improve intersections to make them safer for pedestrians. Anyone who’s walked or driven along Maryland Ave NE probably knows how fast traffic currently travels along the street — this plan should slow traffic and dramatically improve safety.

The changes could be implemented as early as next spring. To learn more and help keep the project moving forward, sign on here.”
