A reader reported yesterday:

“I’m not sure about victim. Was a bit after 1pm. Saw a couple guys in cuffs down on Ingraham, near Jefferson Liquor.”

Another reader reported from 1st and Q Street, NW around 1pm Monday:

“Open house in Truxton Circle – don’t mind the shell casings”

“I heard it and saw people scatter. 7-8 shots.”

Another reader reported:

“I heard 10-15 shots Monday around 1pm, and someone on Nextdoor posted the news that there was also gunfire last night or early this morning in the same area around Q and 1st NW (she talked to cops, and neither incident was fireworks).”

Back in December we shared some mouth watering Scuttlebutt that the folks from Bloomingdale’s Showtime Bar, across the street from Boundary Stone on Rhode Island Ave., had plans to open up a second spot in Brightwood Park on Georgia Ave (photo above.) [Showtime opened in Bloomingdale back in 2013 and is perennially placed on all the ‘best of’ lists around town.] A week ago I reported that Neptune Room was coming to 5405 Georgia Avenue, NW and because the liquor license placard listed the prolific Andrew Kline as attorney, I suspected this might be the rumored Showtime spot. And now a local food blog confirms it is indeed the Showtime folks: “Team Showtime confirmed”.

The liquor license placard for Neptune Room says:

“A new Retailer’s Class C Tavern. Seating capacity of 30 inside. Total Occupancy Load of 96. The License will include an Entertainment Endorsement for the inside of the premises only.”

The attorney listed on the placard is the prolific Andrew Kline who is usually involved with significant projects. Could this be related to the scuttlebutt about a 2nd bar from the owners of Showtime in Bloomingdale? Either way, STAY TUNED.

Report of 20 Gunshots Fired in Petworth/Brightwood Park; Fire in Takoma/Shepherd Park

Alan Henney reports around 2:15pm:

“20+ GUNSHOTS FIRED- so far, nobody found injured, 4800 blk 9th St NW at Delafield Pl NW-DC. Police have found approx. 20 shell casings, still searching for a suspect and/or any victims (none found as of yet).”

Michael reports also around 2:15pm:

“Fire at 1117 Fern St NW. Looks like they just got it put down, it was in the right side of a duplex, that side looks like it got messed up pretty good, left side had had smoke coming through at te attic level and fire fighters when into that one and opened all the windows, big response Georgia Ave is shut down both directions between Elder and Fern.”

“Dear PoPville,

I was in a car accident last Friday a few blocks from my house. Minor fender bender but I was majorly pissed because the car I hit didn’t stop at her stop sign. I didn’t realize until after inspections of the vehicles that her stop sign was laying on the ground. *insert colorful language here*

My assumption was that the sign probably came down as result of the crazy wind storms we’ve had since that previous Friday. Regardless, today is now Wednesday (5 days after I called 311 to make the repair) and and the sign is still down! (more…)
