A few weeks ago we learned DC would soon allow liquor/wine/beer sales on Sundays. Licenses have started to be issued.

From AM Wine Shoppe:

After a lengthy process, A.M. Wine Shoppe is now approved to sell wine, spirits, and beer on Sundays! We picked up our new license today and will begin Sunday sales THIS WEEK! From now on, our store hours are:

Sunday-Thursday: 11am-8pm
Friday and Saturday: 11am-9pm

So, come by this Sunday (and every Sunday from now on) and grab a bottle from your neighborhood Shoppe along with our delicious cured meat, cheese, antipasti, and prepared foods!

From ANC1C representing Adams Morgan:

ABC and Public Safety Committee
Wednesday, February 13, 7:00 PM
Kalorama Recreation Center, 1875 Columbia Road NW

Adams Morgan Moratorium. The Committee will continue discussion of the Adams Morgan Moratorium on alcohol licenses. The current Moratorium will expire early in 2014 and the Commission will need to let the ABC Board know how the community would like to proceed by fall of 2013. The Committee will endeavor to establish a schedule over which the discussion will continue, and to identify the topics that are likely to be considered along the way. The Committee will not vote concerning the substance of the Moratorium itself at this time.

While debate has once again started again around a proposed U street liquor license moratorium – I’m wondering what folks think of the one currently in place in Adams Morgan. Do you think it has worked in diversifying retail and adding daytime vitality to the neighborhood? Do you think it should expire in 2014?

The site is currently leased to an Exxon station, but in the next several months, that lease will be terminated and work will begin on the project. The expected completion date for the project is the beginning of 2015.

Back in Aug. 2012 we saw the new Toledo Lounge had closed for renovations. At that time we also learned that Toledo Lounge would probably be renamed. Well looks like we now know the new name – Libertine. A proposed change to their liquor license out front states the name as Libertine and says they are looking to extend their hours for the sidewalk cafe to 2am Sunday – Thursday and until 3am on Friday and Saturdays. Stay tuned.
