Thanks to a reader for passing on from Earth Treks:
“The wait is over—Earth Treks is coming to the DC Metro area! We are thrilled to announce plans to open a fifth climbing gym, and our first located within the Washington, D.C. beltway. A grand opening is planned for late spring 2016.
True to form, Earth Treks’ newest facility will be industry leading in amenities and size. With a massive footprint exceeding 45,000 sq ft, the DC Metro location will be among the biggest climbing gyms in the nation. How big you ask? Consider that the footprint of the new location is more than 50% bigger than Earth Treks Rockville—which is already ranked as the 2nd biggest climbing gym in the nation. There will be 35,000 sq ft of awe inspiring climbing terrain, including more bouldering than any other Earth Treks gym. The roped climbing area alone is so massive that you could drop the entire Earth Treks Timonium building in it and have room to spare. So real big.
With metro access AND ample parking, urbanites and suburbanites alike will be salivating at the new gym’s convenience to Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. Earth Treks’ owner, Chris Warner, expects the new location to be immensely popular, “but all those eager climbers will have to hold tight for the big reveal. We anticipate announcing the exact location before the New Year.
FEATURING:
A 35,000 sq ft climbing wall constructed by Walltopia, designed by Jason Kehl and packed with bouldering and roped terrain.
Huge fitness and climbing training areas.
Dedicated yoga and group fitness room.
Private climbing teaching areas.
High end locker rooms.
Fully stocked gear shop.”
On facebook one commenter speculates: “After reading the description, I’m guessing that the new gym will be located on the Orange/Silver Line outside Ballston — East/West Falls Church, McLean, or Tyson’s Corner.”

I think this is the old Radio Shack space. Back in 2013 Corepower opened up a studio in Georgetown.
