“Shooting at 0134 hrs in the 3200 block of Hiatt Place NW. Lookout for (2) B/M’s, 5’10”-5’11” tall, slim build, wearing gray sweatshirts”
“At approximately 1:40 a.m. this morning, members of the Third District responded for a shooting inside an apartment building in the 3200 block of Hiatt Place, NW. The victim, an adult male, was located in the third floor hallway, and was transported to a local hospital and subsequently admitted in critical condition. It was later determined that the crine actually occurred inside an adjacent apartment.
Members of the MPD’s Violent Crime Branch responded to the scene, and will be handling the investigation.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the MPD Command Information Center at 202.727.9099.”
Then at 11:30am Sunday morning Beth wrote:
“Hey PoPville I just heard a shooting at the park at 14 and Harvard. ~10 shots followed by lots of running and sirens”

DC Fire & EMS reports:
“Fire involved a rooftop grill. #DCsBravest quickly extinguished this blaze with no extension to the structure. There were no injuries.”

Stuart reported on Saturday:
“Passing along that the Hi Market located at 15th and Fuller had a significant fire incident, with fire crew/ police on the scene. Seemed to occur this morning. Hopefully they will be able to recover and open in the near future. Very sad to see this store have to temporarily close and hope they are able to recover and re-open.”

11th and Park Road, NW Saturday Night.
Red Rocks can not catch a break. Fortunately they’ve been able to reopen both Columbia Heights and H Street locations pretty quickly. From Red Rocks:
“We had a fire in our office on the 2nd floor but it was contained and after an afternoon of cleanup, we’re back open.”

“Working Fire 1200 block M St NW. Fire 8th floor Apt. in 10 story occupied building. Fire knocked down. No injuries reported. Sheltering occupants in place as needed.”

“Dear PoPville,
The ATF has released their report on the Arthur Capper Fire at the senior home in Navy Yard a few months ago. To say the findings are disturbing is an understatement.
· Investigators ruled out electrical or other mechanical causes of the fire, saying it was likely the result of human activity in the attic.
· There was clear evidence someone tried to put the fire out with a garden house from the roof just after it started. (more…)
“Dear PoPville,
There was a devastating fire on 24th St NE in Kingman Park yesterday morning that displaced 5 households on the block, three of those had their homes completely destroyed. Thankfully, no one was injured in the fire. The neighborhood is banding together to raise relief funds for those families.”

Britton reports:
“This old Mustang caught fire in the middle of 9th St NW near Quintana NW in Brightwood. Burned to the ground. This morning about 8:30am.”

UPDATE from Red Rocks:
“We are very thankful for the brave first responders @DCfireems and @DCPoliceDept who quickly took control of the situation and extingushed a fire that ignited on our roof deck last night. Their work minimized a fire that not only could have been devastating for RedRocks but also our neighbors on 13th Street. We are grateful that no one was injured and are very appreciative of the support received from our loyal customers, friends and neighbors in the H Street community. We are working hard to clean up the mess and hope to reopen real soon. Thank you for all the emails, messages, and continued support.

“Everyone stay safe. I’m not sure but it looks like red rocks or something next to it is on fire. A LOT of flames coming from the rooftop of the building. Five firetrucks I can see.”
