UPDATE: Dave Statter reports: “black smoke pouring from the vent on a roof in SW. Turns out to be GSA Building switching over to oil. DC Fire & EMS was dispatched quite a few blocks to the the west at the Trump Hotel in NW. All okay and units have cleared.”

From DC Fire and EMS: “#DCsBravest have received many inquiries about black smoke seen near downtown. The smoke is coming from boilers at the GSA heating plant in Southwest. There is no fire and no emergency.” (more…)

David writes: “Sad to hear about the fire at Dupont Pizza. Glad it was contained and didn’t spread to the rest of the building including the apartments and 2nd Story Books!”

“Update Working Fire 2000 block P St NW. #DCsBravest have the fire under control. Confined to street level pizza shop. No extension above. Smoke being removed from upper floors. No injuries. Fire investigators on scene to determine cause.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Thursday, November 19, 2020, in the 1400 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest.

At approximately 3:41 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where after all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 59 year-old Marcella Johnson, of Southeast, DC. (more…)

“Several of my dear friends including and their 4 year old daughter, as well as our amazing friend Tony have been displaced by the large fire that took place early on Friday morning at 1st Pl NE. Giselle, who is an incredible friend and pediatric PT (and known as Gafanhota to her capoeira community), had to jump from a 3rd story window and suffered a broken pelvis, vertebrae, and arm. Both the Green family and Tony have been displaced by this event and are without the vast majority of their belongings due to smoke damage. We’re raising money to help them out as many expenses as possible over the coming months.” (more…)

“SLASH RUN STAFF AND CONTRACTORS CAME TOGETHER AND WORKED THROUGH THE NIGHT 48 hours later we have the green light to open WE REOPEN TODAY! Come get a burger we missed you!!”

Tuesday afternoon DC Fire & EMS reported: “Update Box Alarm 200 block Upshur St NW. #DCsBravest have placed the fire under control with no injuries. Investigators on scene.”
