“Dear PoPville,

I’ve noticed that most DC residents are not aware that the city will plant trees for free if you request them on the 311 app which is also free. It takes about 5 minutes to request. I’ve marked up some screenshots of the steps on the 311 app to make it easier to know what to do. It’s a simple step in helping our city fight the heat. Hopefully, more residents are aware of this and utilize this service.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We received an email from Washington Gas that our service is being suspended (disconnected). The “move out request notice”. We called the WGas and it appears as if somebody (they even gave us that person’s name) requested to activate the service at our address. No details on how (call or email). We’re in a four-unit apartment building. Has anything similar happen to anyone else?”

“Dear PoPville,

“Dear PoPville,

First – I would like to be clear, I do not wish to limit free speech of any kind, just lower the volume a smidge, especially when said speakers/preachers are 5-10 feet from residences, businesses, bus stops and metro entrances as well as 20 feet from a senior apartment building.

“Dear PoPville,

Do you know if there is a reason why the voice that comes out of the kiosk is so incredibly loud and if there is a way to get it turned down? I went there to try to get my car inspected this morning and the voice was so absurdly and painfully loud (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’m currently apartment hunting in NW DC and I’m seeing something new to me. One rather large apartment building (425 Mass) claimed that the utilities which they bill for monthly, which includes water/sewer/boiler costs, total around $180 per month. I have never heard of a boiler fee personally, and in my experience water and sewer on the high end would cost maybe as high as $60 at the rate I’ve traditionally used water. (more…)
