I’ve been to Ft Totten Transfer Station, and they told me DC doesn’t accept shingles. I’ve been scouring the internet and can’t find out what to do with my small batch of shingles from the demolition of the backyard fort I built for my kids some years ago. Any thoughts or info?”

Update from DPW:

“The Department of Public Works takes locating scofflaw vehicles and getting them off the street seriously. Parking enforcement officers are trained to inspect all vehicles, including those with car covers. The use of a car cover does not exempt a vehicle from inspection, ticketing, or further enforcement actions. We also encourage residents to submit 311 requests if they see a vehicle in violation of the city’s parking laws. Such requests are all part of the process of identifying vehicles that may pose a danger to the community and maintaining safe and accessible streets for all.”

Following a series of parking enforcement actions in 16th Street Heights that results in a number of cars with thousands of dollars of tickets being towed, there is a proliferation of cars parked on the streets completely covered by tarps.
