“Dear PoPville,

I just saw the parking lady out writing tickets again, so I went and spoke to her. She told me that the green “2 hours OR a parking sticker” areas are fine to park in and no tickets are being written. But for any spots labeled “resident parking only” tickets are being written again for anyone parking there without a proper sticker. I also saw her write a ticket for someone who was parked past the last parking sign (parked too close to the corner).”

Kat shares with us over the weekend: “In case anyone was wondering how the fourth year of construction at Hains Point pool is going”

Kinza asks: “I am looking for adult swimming lessons in DC, I live in SW but I have a car so I’m able to travel. Any leads will be appreciated.”

Collective Impact asks: “Any suggestions for where you can swim outdoors in the extended DC area?”

“Dear PoPville,

I live in on Westminster Street in Shaw, which has a children’s park on the street and many families in the area that come to play there. I was leaving my house around 6:45PM [Monday] and was walking west on Westminster and a tall (probably 5’11” or 6’0″), lanky, african-american, male approached me. We were about 15 feet apart when he seemed to adjust his jeans, but I then realized that he was exposing himself (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Looks like the developers of the 1333 New Hampshire Ave project don’t know the difference between the US Capitol Building and St. Matthew the Apostle Cathedral in Dupont Circle, a major church which is less than half a mile away from the construction project.”

“Dear PoPville,

someone stole a very very sentimental, personal, and cherished painting of mine out of my moving truck on S and 17th (the Shelburne apartments) in Dupont while I stepped away for a few minutes. This painting has no value except to me. It was hand painted by my best friend 9 years ago. I just want to ask if anyone has seen it or knows anything about this. If they stole it, I want them to know that I am absolutely heartbroken and to please return it – no questions asked I promise. I am at the arcade sunshine apartments in park view (713 Lamont St, NW).”

“Dear PoPville,

I took an electric scooter from Connecticut & K to 9th & K – at 17th my scooter slowed down to a crawl – I thought it was broken so I tried to stop and park it but it was a no park zone. As soon as I hit 14th it sped up again. I’ve never experienced a scooter slowing down in certain areas – is that new?? Has anyone else experienced that??”

“Dear PoPville,

Any update from those who went to gyms last week on how they are handling cleaning and keeping people safe?”

Another reader asks: “I’m starting to see organized outdoor exercise classes around town. Does anyone know who is organizing them? I would like to get involved. In particular, I’ve seen them happening in the field of Garrison Elementary.”

Thanks to Holden for asking us @PoPville on Twitter, “anyone know of a place to “get out of the city” feel under 1 hour of driving? Might I add: less rigorous than Shenandoah hiking, getting hip surgery in two weeks” Here are the initial responses (please add yours to the comments): (more…)
