“Dear PoPville,

I know there’s a thread on the best bookstore but has there been any discussion on the best place to sell/donate used books around dc? I could’ve sworn I saw a comment once about a dc guy who sells used books for people on Amazon and takes a portion of the sales but I can’t seem to find it.

I’ve got about fifty books I’m trying to offload. Some are kind of expensive and some are fairly common so I’d be happy to find a place with both sell back and donation. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

A crop of new signs popped up on our block today, then we noticed a large pile by the trash on a side street. Are campaign representatives allowed to move other campaign’s signs?”

On Thursday we shared from Attorney General Racine’s office:

Is it legal to destroy election signs in the lead up to the election?

No. It is illegal under District law to intentionally remove, deface, damage, or destroy a lawfully placed billboard, poster, sign or other material relating to a candidate or referendum in the 30 days before the election or up to four days after the election. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

New construction is about to start right next to our apartment, for a 9 story condo building. We’re trying to decide what to do and curious about people’s experiences with the noise from construction like this, particularly whether the noise level changes at all over time. Is it just awful the whole time? Or is it particularly bad for a few months in the beginning (demolition, foundation work, etc.)?”

“Dear PoPville,

My building cut off our AC last week and with today’s high at 82, my apartment has been unbearably hot. Last night the thermostat read 78 at 10pm. Do DC renters have any options to file a legal complaint?

An updated reading from this morning. (80 degrees)”
