“Dear PoPville,
On sunday, i was making my typical trader joe’s run for the week. Usually i go to the one on Florida, but i found myself in capitol hill and figured i’d head to the Pennsylvania Ave one. thank goodness i did! As i reached for the often discontinued peanut butter jo jos, I glanced over to see a tall, perfectly built brunette in a neutral t shirt and athletic shorts. he was kind and patient as i made my way over and perused the ready to bake burritos and freshly made wraps. he waited his turn as i looked back and smiled, wanting to comment on his cool fish or shark tattoo on his forearm. i clammed up like the sea, afraid of making a fool of myself. after we both left the isle, he headed to wait in the line as i made my way to the seasoning section. we made eye contact one last time, and i never saw him again.
help me find this missed connection? I’m a 5ft 6 thic brunette looking to buy him a cup of coffee!”

“Dear PoPville,
I was wondering if there were people in DC who have fenced in backyards that either are out of town or would be willing to allow nervous pups who cannot go to the dog parks to run free from now and then? (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Our condo landlord notified us they would not be willing to extend the lease beyond the current term (which ends in 75 days). We will have rented for 18 months at termination, have never missed (or been late on payment), nor had any issues. Is this allowable? The landlord did not specify a reason for asking us to leave. I understand there are few exceptions for landlords to ask tenants to leave. Should we ask for a reason?
Appreciate the help in advance.”

“Dear PoPville,
Any chance you could crowdsource the best crème brûlée in DC proper? My partner and I used to frequent The Riggsby for their incredible version (paired with one of their great cocktails too), but I see that they’re reopening as The Bar at Lyle’s and the new menu does not feature crème brûlée. I wrote to them seeing if there was any chance they would add it back (fingers crossed), but I figured I should find a new spot in the very real case they reject a stranger’s request. I’ve been adamant since moving here five years ago that The Riggsby’s version was the best I ever found, but hopefully someone can open my eyes!”

“Dear PoPville,
Residents in 20002 are experiencing extreme mail delay. I’ve personally been to the USPS facility in Brentwood twice in the last two weeks and there are many frustrated customers waiting on paychecks, bills, passports, medicine, etc. I went again yesterday and saw this sign posted.”

“Dear PoPville,
This is my first time writing in so I’m not sure how this works, but here goes nothing!
On Sunday, May 9th, (Happy mother’s day!) I was having an espresso at Emissary on 20th street. As I was getting up to carry on with my bike ride, she started the conversation by asking about my ride, and then told me about her step-dad’s passion for biking. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
My husband and I bought a new condo last year and construction seems to be wrapping on the whole block-long property. Our unit is next to an unpaved area and on our purchasing documents, it says this area is a public alleyway. Does DC have stipulations for what a public alleyway entails? I would assume that it needs to be paved…which it is not. (more…)
