“do y’all know of any places to take clothing/fabric that can’t be donated to be recycled? Thanks!!”

“Question for the community: does anyone know of any local organizations that welcome donations of reusable freezer packs? I get a rescue produce box and due to food regulation, they have to send the packs as weather gets warmer, and I’ve got a million in a cabinet. Though they say you can dispose of the gel contents and recycle the plastic packaging, I’ve also heard the contents are not the greatest environmentally, so am hoping to put them to good (re)use somewhere that needs them!”

“Where can I donate clean, used bed pillows in the DC area? Google is failing me and I don’t want to waste them by throwing them in the trash.”

“Dear PoPville,

Had a missed connection today (Monday) at Vida on U Street:

Him: red tank, probably 6’0/6’1, black, lifting on the third floor
Me: 5’11, red hair, grey stringer with red sports bra and black leggings on the rower

Kept looking at each other but you left before I could catch you.
Want to lift together sometime?”

“Dear PoPville,

Coming down the street in my car from my nephews great 6th birthday in the park. Right before the underpass by Whole Foods. A man clearly not all together yelling and sharing his thoughts for the world to hear, I thought at first was throwing trash at the cars and bikers going by. Ha! Nope! If only…..

To my cars demise … it was a cement rock. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

On Saturday, May 16th around 4:30/5 I was sitting on a bench in the shade in Logan Circle and listening to the brass band play. There was a cute guy sitting on the bench next to me in a blue button down shirt and jeans with the cuffs rolled up. He was writing in a notebook. I was the brunette in a dress with a blue and pink pattern.

At one point he turned to me and said he didn’t live in the neighborhood and was wondering if I could recommend a good bar. I suggested the patio at Lost and Found and gave approximate directions on how to get there. I kind of wish I had been invited to join him for that drink! If you see this, I would love to show you more of my neighborhood!”

“Dear PoPville,

A very disturbing thing just happened on 14th Street NW between Corcoran and R (right in front of Marine Layer / Salt & Sundry) while I was taking a pleasant Sunday dad/daughter walk with my 8 year old. This happened at about 11:40am today (Sunday).

We were harassed by a man walking a dog. He struck up what seemed to be a friendly conversation with my daughter. I responded tersely and we kept walking but he drew closer to us. He left his dog off leash and got right in my face. I told him to leave us alone and that my daughter is afraid of dogs. He turned to her and said “does he touch you?” implying that I am a child molester. He put both of his hands on my shoulders and began to squeeze, like he would strangle me. I raised my voice to get off of me, shimmied free, grabbed my daughter’s hand and we walked away. After 1/2 a block I looked back and saw he was harassing someone else. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We moved to Capitol Hill last summer, and we have been extremely disappointed with our mail delivery service since moving here. We are desperate to get help on this issue.

We are still waiting for numerous birthday cards for my husband which were supposed to be delivered back in October. One of which was the last card his grandmother sent him before she passed. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Hoping for some advice on who to call to get help dealing with a contractor whose work has kicked off a block-wide rat-fest of insane proportion.

It’s a row house on our block (one of two being re-done) and the yard is full of giant dead bushes and massive mulch piles which the rats have re-made into a kind of multi-level Mall of America for themselves and hundreds of their best buddies. They’re now running through every yard on the block day and night. (more…)
