“Dear PoPville,

Could you give some visibility to this petition to build a dog park for Wards 7 & 8!

There are currently 16 dog parks in the District, but none have been built in these wards despite continued requests from residents.

A DC Redditor recently posted giving some background on this very sad situation.”

More info from DPR here.

“Dear PoPville,

We recently replaced the front porch of our Capitol Hill home, and in the debris underneath uncovered this old-looking booklet. It’s missing the cover, but from what I can tell is a publication highlighting the Black community – everything from African American musicians to a “toothpick artist.” From what I can tell, it’s from around 1956. not the rider/motorcycle in question but the photo came up in my archives in a search for motorycycles and how can I not?

“Dear PoPville,

To the chick in Lanier Heights riding the Triumph motorcycle, I’m smitten with the sound of your exhaust. Love your style babe, can we be friends? (from another moto chick)”

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, some have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.

“Dear PoPville,

I’m looking for a place to practice my ball skills for soccer. I was wondering if you or anyone in the community would know of a park or grassy area that has a wall that could be used to kick the ball against? Something like a retaining wall, not an apartment building/something that would disturb people etc. Thanks!”

“Dear PoPville,

Construction contractors renovating a building on 13th Street NW in Columbia Heights have left equipment — particularly a pile of sheet rock — in a Zone 1 parking space for over a week now. Meanwhile, there’s ample space to stack the supplies in the building’s (mostly flat) front yard, so I’m not certain why they’re leaving it in the street. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Has anyone in or around Dupont Circle heard a woman singing for hours on end?

She sings in the morning. She sings all day. She sings late at night. Oh and did I mention that she always sings the same three notes?

“aah–Aah–AAH!!–Aah–aah”

Over and over and over and over and over…

I think it’s safe to say this woman suffers from some sort of mental health issue. Benedictine monks don’t chant the same three notes for hours on end and chanting is literally part of their job.

She started singing this morning (Thursday) at 7:45 am. She’s still singing. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’m writing to encourage the community to show some love and support to the owners of Pan Am Fresh supermarket on Brown St. in Mount Pleasant due to the brazen robbery they endured on Tuesday morning. I spoke with a staff member the next day and she said the robber made a beeline for the register and twice pushed the owner down with such force that she was injured and an ambulance was necessary. This and the fact that it occurred in broad daylight is very disturbing. I live nearby and the owners are extremely kind and generous people. Not to mention their Indian cuisine is amazing and they always throw in extra food. If you’re in the area, please be sure to stop by and support this great small business.”

“Dear PoPville,

I exchanged multiple sweet glances & smiles with a cute tall fella walking his pup down Adams Mill Road (Saturday around 11am). I was practicing yoga at Walter Pierce Park dressed in black & polka dotted leggings. Would love to connect if you’re available!”
