“Dear PoPville,

I know from experience that the ANC system is a great way to access and influence DC government when you’ve lost all of your individual battles, but I’m writing to ask what readers would recommend if you find that your ANC rep is not representing their constituents before a DC department. “Dear PoPville,

I had a missed connection on Saturday (July 10) in Columbia Heights near the Giant on Park Rd NW. I’m a gay male in his early 30s with a shaved head and beard – I was wearing a bright orange shirt. It looked like he was on the way to the gym and had circular sunglasses on. Soon after we passed by each other, we both turned around for a double take – we both seemed surprised. Neither of us said anything, just smiled. Both of us quickly turned back around and continued walking.

If you’re interested in a drink, let me know. :)”

“Dear PoPville,

I’m wondering if you’d be interested in a post asking folks if their DC apartment complex pools are fully opened and staffed? Management at the Promenade in Adams Morgan, is claiming to residents (in both of their buildings) that the DC-area lifeguard shortage is ongoing and that they can only get lifeguards to split days between their two buildings. At the Promenade, our pool is only open Thu-Sat. They are not stating this in their website or giving residents any indication that it will open with posted hours anytime soon.”

“Dear PoPville,

Just wanted to write in here on behalf of my dad. He told me he was in Dupont on Thursday morning at around 8:00am getting his morning Starbucks coffee when a shirtless man with a hammer approached him on the sidewalk outside the PNC bank. The man said he had just gotten out of prison and could hit him with the hammer and no one would find out. My dad said he just told the man “Ok” and walked away. He didn’t seem very shocked by the whole fiasco but I am! Stay alert people!”

“Dear PoPville,

There’s been an abandoned car sitting on Virginia Ave SE between 6th and 7th street. There’s no parking along this stretch but there are three lanes of active traffic, one of which this car is blocking. It’s been there for at least two weeks. It had a ticket written right away but nothing has been done about it. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

My partner and I were driving home down North Cap near M St NE last night when that guy in the white car readers have written about in the past honked at us and yelled that our “wheel was wobbly” and we needed to pull over. It was pretty suspicious to begin with, but remembering your post about his antics made it way less stressful to blow him off and continue our ride.”
