“Dear PoPville,

Summer weather has me looking for good fried shrimp. Not overly breaded, not oily, not infused with old bay. Fresh, light and tasty. Ideally in the NW, Adams Morgan & U Street area, but willing to travel. Help me out please.”

Ed. Note: Regarding the olympic rings pictured above, from NBC Universal: “The “Rings Across America” experience will open to the public from 11am-8pm on Monday and will also be open on Tuesday from 10am-6pm.”

“Dear PoPville,

The Tokyo Olympic opening ceremonies are airing at 7am ET on Friday because of the time difference. Are any bars in DC opening early for a viewing party? Not saying I’ll necessarily want a beer that early (Or maybe I will. Game time decision.), but it would be nice to watch with a crowd.”

One email I got from Commissary (but please add your recs in the comments):

“Logan Circle favorite neighborhood restaurant, Commissary (1443 P Street NW), will open at 7 am on Friday, July 23 with all TVs and a big screen showing the Summer Olympic Games opening ceremonies. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Back in June, we were advised not to put food in our bird feeders due to an unknown disease. Anyone know if we can start putting food out again? Watching the birds outside my window makes working from home a little more exciting.”

Ed. Note: I’ll put a tweet out to City Wildlife and report back their reply.

“Dear PoPville,

I am curious about this “no parking sign” on 23rd St NW between Wyoming Ave. and Tracy Pl. It seems fake! The coloring and the fact that the property owner can call for a vehicle to be towed while on the public street makes me skeptical. Yours/reader thoughts?”

I think the embassy sign looks legit and maybe they just added the bottom one? Would the bottom one, if legit, apply to the same hours as above Monday-Friday?

“Dear PoPville,

Curious in our (almost, pls don’t come for me) post-COVID environment in DC, if there are places aside from Yards Park where we can catch live music on Fridays? Jazz in the Garden seems to still be on pause. Thanks!”
