“Dear PoPville,

This morning I was awoken by a chainsaw outside my building, by the S street dog park in Dupont, and saw that DC was felling one of the two large trees outside (on the 1800 block of New Hampshire Ave, NW, picture attached). I reached out to the condo building’s property manager and he provided me with this response (screenshot also attached): (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I just found out the CVS at 435 8th St NW is closing 10/26. This CVS and their AMAZING pharmacist Denise have been serving our neighborhood for 26 years. I want to do everything I can to have them stay open. Can you please help? Do you have any ideas on how I can do this?”

“Dear PoPville,

A friend of mine witnessed an incredible act of kindness by an Uber driver and wanted to share the story and asked me to forward it to you… I hope you can share it.

On Monday the 11th, I watched one of the most humble, incredible acts of humanity I’d seen in my 38 years in Washington DC.

And the young person who did this was an Uber Eats driver. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I have a very early flight (6am) out of DCA next week, and I’m wondering if people have recommendations for taxi companies. Since the pandemic I’ve always had problems and delays when trying to get a pick-up from Uber or Lyft that early, so I thought it would be better to schedule something ahead of time with an actual local company. I was hoping your readers might know of some good reliable companies!”

“Dear PoPville,

I’ve had Kaiser for three years and have had an extremely difficult time trying to get help for mental health, specifically access to a therapist. Each time I try to access therapy they say that patients can not receive regular individual therapy services due to their “model” (in reality it is because they don’t have enough therapists for the number of members they have). Most recently, I completed an initial visit with a therapist who told me I could have my second appointment 3 months in the future and gave me a single book recommendation in the meantime. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

As of Summer 2021, Tenleytown Trash was bought out by Republic Services. Over the course of transition, trash pickup has been sporadic (awful!). Based off posts on the Nextdoor App, this issue has been consistent. Republic Services claims that they have had IT issues with the transfer over from Tenleytown Trash. My condo building (in Bloomingdale) has exhausted patience with the company after contacting the Republic Services HQ Office and speaking with the local Operations Manager. After seeing the service truck drive by our condo building twice today, slowing down, taking a look and driving off without emptying our bins, I am seeking the community’s input for Private trash companies that can service a small condo building.
