This is a bit long, but I’m reaching out to you about the water pipes in DC in hopes that a fellow Washingtonian might have successfully resolved a similar issue and could offer some guidance! As we hear from the water reports, DC Water has high standards for tap water, drinking straight out of the sink faucet is encouraged. DC Water provides annual water quality results, but data collection sample location is not clear. We stopped drinking the water because of the elevated iron levels. To “mitigate” the situation, DC Water flushes the main hydrant by our house multiple times a week to improve the iron (and chlorine levels), it doesn’t appear any solution such as replacement of corroded pipes (the culprit) will come in our lifetime. We don’t drink or cook with tap water and spend $300+ monthly on water delivery on top of the water consumption for laundry, showers etc. Below is the (long-ish) backstory, I hope to receive some much needed guidance! My basement is flooding (again) due to this rain. Looking for highly recommended construction folks that can help fix this? I only got about 4 gallons into my basement which is not too bad. Thinking it could be coming from perhaps a leak in a water line or something. Not entirely sure.”
Amanda writes: “I am convinced AAA belongs somewhere on the base level of my hierarchy of needs. This year I’ve had four tires get taken out by nails. After my assignment last night, I found out one of my tires has TWO nails in it! Is it just me, PoPville? Or is anyone else noticing an epidemic of nails in tires this year?”

My husband just had a frustrating experience getting his Moderna booster so I thought I would pass along as a warning. He had an appointment at the CVS at Eastern Market for this afternoon. I’m looking for advice re: unemployment claims. I was fired from my job on 8/13. I applied for unemployment on 8/15 and was approved for benefits starting on 8/8.
Each week I fill out the same form where I let the office of unemployment know that I’ve been looking for work so I’m still eligible for benefits.
This question is on each form:
“Did you refuse work, quit a job, or were you discharged from a job during the week claimed?”
The first form I filled out was for the last week of my job (8/9-8/13). So I said “yes”. Because I WAS discharged from that job. I don’t know how else to interpret this sentence.
