I was at Copycat Co on H street (Saturday night, 3/12) with a group of friends. We were saddled up to the bar and this very cute brunette with glasses (B.) was sitting behind me. “Dear PoPville,

I’m wondering if readers have any advice or success stories for changing condo bylaws?

For context, my partner and I began the condo-buying process last summer. One of the reasons we looked forward to owning a place was to get a dog (we have wanted a large breed). We put an offer on a place (our 3rd offer) that was advertised as allowing pets. After our offer was accepted, we learned that the building has a pet weight limit and dogs larger than 25 pounds are not permitted. Understanding this, we moved forward and purchased the condo.

However, I was not ready to give up on at least trying to change the bylaws and remove the pet weight limit, so I joined the condo board last fall. (more…)

We have a friend coming to town for his birthday and want to put together a fun, adult-centric, off-the-beaten-path scavenger hunt for the weekend. We have some of the usuals, monuments, breweries/distilleries, etc, but what should we add? Any fun and creative ideas?”

I have a question about overnight water shut offs. DC Water shut the water off Friday for 4 hours during the day for emergency repairs, which was fine because it’s easy enough to go to the office or use public bathrooms during the day, but now they’re going to shut it off for 8 hours overnight, (more…)
