“Anyone know what the specific rules are here?”

“Dear PoPville,

I recently moved back to DC from San Francisco just in time for seasonal street cleaning and am hoping to clarify exactly when you are able to park again on the street after the cleaning– is it after the street cleaner passes, or is it after the full two hour parking restriction window of time?

In San Francisco, even though there are also two hour parking restrictions on street cleaning days, the city allows you to move your car back to the area once the street cleaner has passed by. This seems like common sense to me!

Today, I saw a street cleaner clean my block at 12:45. Someone parked immediately thereafter at 12:50. Then, at 12:55 MPD gave them a ticket for parking on the block during the restricted street cleaning time (which was 12:30 – 2:30)!

It seems pretty awful (though maybe not surprising) that DC would ticket a car after the street cleaner has passed, but maybe the street cleaning rules are more common sense in San Francisco than DC.

Anyone know what the specific rules are here?”
