“upon closer inspection I concluded it might, in fact, be a humongous rat, or some sort of blasphemous rat hybrid”

“Dear PoPville,

On my walk home yesterday night while on New Hampshire Ave. near the intersection with Georgia Ave., I spotted the monstrosity. My first inclination was that it was some sort of marmot or beaver that wandered far from home, but upon closer inspection I concluded it might, in fact, be a humongous rat, or some sort of blasphemous rat hybrid.

If it is a rat, it is certainly the king of rats, born in the sewers of DC and grown fat on chicken wings and Icehouse beers. Perhaps we should worship it.

I also had a missed connection that night: to the lady who briefly (and bravely) followed the creature with me, you seem cool. We should get a drink sometime or maybe form a rat cult.”

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, many have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.

Another reader asks: “How many of you have encountered a rat or a mouse INSIDE your accommodation in DC? Zero, Once, Twice, More than 3 times….. ? ((shudder)) . For me it’s more than 3. 5 mice in one home. 1 rat in another. UGH.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
