Yesterday I found what I think is a spent bullet on my Petworth Georgia Ave NW apartment patio. My patio is alley facing. MPD sent an officer who said it wasn’t a bullet, but I think it’s clearly a bullet.
Has anyone seen or experienced something similar?”

WSC Columbia Heights has had no TV for over a month and a half (the attached pictures are from December 19th, and it was down for at least a week before that). The TVs are either off, or are on with only a DirectTV screensaver. (more…)

Update: “The initial communication told us to leave early based on the US Marshals Service recommendation, but apparently it was based on the recommendation of one local US Marshals Service office in California.”

“Please be advised that the US Marshals Service is recommending that federal employees evacuate from federal facilities today no later than 3 PM Eastern time (or your equivalent local time).”
Ed. Note: Earlier today we posted about a daycare closing at 3pm due to “Potential Risk of Riots and Rallies”.

Full breakfast menu (think eggs, omelettes, pancakes, et cetera); not just pastry’s, sandwiches, or avant garde foods,
Reasonably priced ($15 per person not including tip); yes, we can afford more, but we’re really looking for a hole in the wall with solid food.

Just got this notification from our daycare about an early closure due to risk of riots and rallies.
I saw this news alert that all MPD officers have been activated, but haven’t seen anything official from DC police or other entities.
I’ve never gotten an alert like this. Hopefully this is an intense over abundance of caution – wishing calm, safety, and peaceful activism for our city.”

I wanted to share a frustrating issue I encountered with the new SmartTrip system since they switched over last year. I lost my wallet last week so I bought a new SmarTrip card, registered it online, transferred my funds from my old card, and even topped it up with more funds and set up automatic refill, all online. Apparently, none of that actually gets sent to your new card until you tap your card at the same metro station at least 24 hours apart so it can “localize” (whatever that means). (more…)

I’d like to give a shoutout to JoseLo Gutierrez and his small business, City Acupuncture Circle.
As has been the case for many small business owners, the pandemic really affected his business, and with remote work still popular, he isn’t getting as much foot traffic as he used to.
