“Dear PoPville,
We recently received a flyer from the DC Department of Buildings, inviting us to convert our home from being a “tax lot” to a “lot of record”. They make it sound like this will make it easier/cheaper to get permits sometime in the future…?

Does anyone have any experience with this? The website listed (dob.dc.gov/taxlots) doesn’t give much information, other than saying “Having a Lot of Record means that the lot has undergone the necessary reviews for property improvements and permitting can occur without those delays. The conversion of the Tax Lot into a Record Lot itself is an improvement of the real property.”
Is this really necessary? or is the DC government just looking for a quick way to get $100 from us?”
