Anyone have any idea what the DMV considers to be “temporary” in terms of addresses and residential parking permits?
My family will be making a temporary move within DC and we’re trying to figure out parking options. We currently have an RPP for the neighborhood we’re in now, but are moving to another neighborhood–Columbia Heights–temporarily (a few months, so too long for a friend to print out a Visitor Parking Pass, which is only up to 15 days, right?). I thought we’d just change our address and pay for another RPP from the DMV (and then do it again a few months later when we have to move out of the temporary accommodations), but the DMV says that when you change your address with them “You may not list a temporary address and/or PO Box as your residence.”
I sent an e-mail to the DMV to clarify what they mean by “temporary” but haven’t heard back yet and was wondering if anyone has done this before and happens to know. I’m also happy to just rent a parking space from someone, but I don’t currently see much on offer near where we’ll be and I understand that there’s a big premium on parking in a neighborhood like Columbia Heights. If folks can think of other options, do let me know! We lived most of our years in the District without a car, so we just may not have thought of all the options yet.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
