Whoa, BicycleSpace Closing in Adams Morgan; Hearing this could be the future home to that rumored WaWa

“Sad news, just walked by and they are closed for good. Said they were “moving” to their K St location on the window and the space was mostly emptied out. It’s a a very big retail space, so it will be interesting to see what goes in there.”

“Just wanted to confirm that BicycleSpace is closing their flagship Adams Morgan location [Opened July 2015], to focus on their K Street [Mt. Vernon Square] and Ivy City shops. the usual reasons, rent too high, too much square footage to support with bike sales and service, lots of veteran staff members leaving over the past year. It’s a bummer for 18th Street, and I hope my friends who work there will be ok.”

In June I said I was 97% sure Adams Morgan was getting a WaWa. If I were a betting man…

Prior to BicycleSpace this was home to Slaviya and back in the day, Cities.

“This new store opening in the longtime vacant spot [Ed. Note: The old Footaction sneaker store!!] between Mintwood and Pop’s Sea Bar. According to the website listed on the sign, it sounds like a new phone store. So boring.”

“The advertising push involves a host of faux pop-up storefronts in nine major U.S. cities. The catch: None of the stark blue buildings are stores at all. They’re designed to convey the message that Visible’s service is available via app only.”

Back on October 10th I posted some scuttlebutt about Tenleytown’s Best Buy closing soon. Thanks to David for the update:

“The Best Buy Tenleytown location closes November 3rd. All of their DVDs shelves are empty, most home appliances are gone, and an employee informed me of the closing date.”

Now for the scuttlebutt about who could be taking over – a tipster tells me that a TARGET is a good possibility. A commenter to the October 10th post says “Amazon has the lease.” STAY TUNED.
