We knew it was coming but damn this is a crazy sight. I expect it’ll be an even crazier one when ________ moves in. STAY TUNED.

From the Georgetown BID:
“Ho, ho, hoagie! Philadelphia-based Wawa flew into Georgetown today at 1222 Wisconsin Ave NW–its second DC location. Grab a free coffee, sample the Georgetown-inspired Bulldog Double Shot latte, and trigger that breakfast sandwich habit you’re bound to develop. But this isn’t just your average Wawa. Did we mention new items like milkshakes and custom sandwiches? We fancy.”

Thanks to Sean for sending over the weekend: “Do any readers know anything about this?”

A couple of weeks ago, many of us, were devastated to learn that Soapstone Market would be closing at the end of the year. Someone in the comments noted that the space had already been leased. And kudos to you for that scuttlebutt sir/madam because leased it is!
From an email:
“Uptown Market is thrilled to bring our neighborhood market concept to Van Ness in spring 2019. You’ll find locally sourced and thoughtfully curated offerings like our fresh seafood market, butcher shop, artisan creamery, coffee bar and more. We look forward to meeting you and serving the Van Ness neighborhood, we hope you’ll come to shop and stay awhile.
Uptown Market is brought to you by the folks behind Bethesda’s popular neighborhood markets Butchers Alley and Pescadeli.”
STAY TUNED.

There was a time when the sun never set on a Comfort One Shoes in Dupont Circle.
Thanks to Jonathan Padget for sharing: “next to a shuttered Lou Lou, but the psychic perseveres!”
Ed. Note: This is the old Lambda Rising bookstore space. The closed Lou Lou clothing space next door is the former former Melody Record Store space.
Updates when we learn who takes over both spaces.

Fyubi Makeup & Brow Studio on 15th & U is closed – the location has been empty for the past 3 months now – no one responds to voicemail. Any information on them relocating in the neighborhood?”
Thanks to a reader for passing on:
“After almost 5 years in our first store front studio on U St., Fyubi Makeup & Brow Studio has recently partnered with Violet Salon at 1513 Wisconsin Ave NW (about 5-6 minutes from U St @ the corner of Wisconsin Ave & P St). (more…)

Thanks to Jonathan Padget for passing on to us last week: “Hear that, DC? WE’RE GETTING A TINY IKEA.”
Angele Robinson-Gaylord, President, US Property, IKEA Group, tells the #ICSCNYDM audience: “Target cities for IKEA’s new urban small-format Planning Studio after its debut in New York City this spring: Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and D.C.” @IKEAUSA #ICSCDiversity pic.twitter.com/rHHscjZab5

CityLab reported:
“For anyone who knows the furniture retailer’s massive blue-box megastores, this might come as a surprise. But what you’ll find at the Midtown outpost is something new: a “Planning Studio” with a much smaller footprint, where New Yorkers can get one-on-one advice before ordering items for delivery.”
