“Idle Time Books, an iconic neighborhood bookstore in Adams Morgan DC, will rename itself as Lost City Books. The new name, brand, and identity follows the retirement of founder Val Morgan and the sale of the bookstore in January 2019. While under new ownership, the store plans to remain in Adams Morgan indefinitely and is dedicated to remaining the neighborhood staple that Idle Time Books has been: a fantastic and idiosyncratic institution that proudly served the neighborhood for 36 years. “Wawa, Inc. today announced its continued expansion into Washington D.C. with the grand opening of its 4th store in the district, located at 4530 40th St., NW A, Washington, DC. “Dear PoPville,

I am saddened to report that driving by the former Neams grocery and Marvelous Market in Georgetown (corner of Wisconsin and P across from Thomas Sweet), I saw that this property is becoming a Chase bank.

This is such sad news as this property, though long vacant has so much potential including parking and outdoor seating space. Do people even go to banks anymore? This seems like such a waste of a neighborhood gem.” (more…)

“Scuttlebutt: Liquor store on corner moving to 7th St. NW b/c rent is too high (14K). Last day is July 31st. Owner apparently looking to bring a coffee shop in.”
